What to expect…

We welcome you to visit us at Calvary Chapel Bozeman for an upcoming service. Children’s ministry and nursery care are available at both our Sunday morning and Wednesday evening services. Children will be taught in classes geared to their age level at the same time the adults are taught in the main sanctuary. Ultimately it is our desire to draw near to Christ through fellowship, worship and the teaching of His Word. We’d love to see you soon.

Our philosophy of ministry…

We believe that simply teaching God’s Word simply is the means by which we as Christians mature the most in our faith. We rely on the Holy Spirit in this work to convict hearts and produce lasting fruit. We desire the whole body to be built up for the work of ministry. We know the Lord wants to work in us and then work through us!

Affiliation…

Calvary Chapel Bozeman is affiliated with and an outreach of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, California, and Pastor Chuck Smith. We are not a denomination but a fellowship of churches that share a like mind in regard to doctrine, structure of leadership, and style of ministry. We believe and agree with the Calvary Chapel Distinctives. As a movement, Calvary Chapels are committed to 1) teaching God’s Word, chapter by chapter, verse by verse, 2) relying on the Holy Spirit for power, direction and provision, and 3) evangelizing the lost both locally and internationally.

Calvary began as a small fellowship of 25 believers pastored by Chuck Smith in Costa Mesa, California in 1965. God has anointed and blessed the teaching ministry of Pastor Chuck and through the years Calvary Costa Mesa has grown to a church that serves 25,000 people weekly and has spread throughout the world with nearly 1,200 outreach churches across America and another 1,000 around the world.

Our History…

In 1990, Calvary Chapel Bozeman was planted by Mike Doran, sent out by Pastor Wayne Taylor of Calvary Fellowship in Seattle, Washington. The church began as a home fellowship and grew into a healthy body of believers as Pastor Mike faithfully taught God’s Word.

In 1996 Pastor Mike returned to the Seattle area to teach in the School of Ministry at Calvary Fellowship. The church was then led by Tom Cox (now Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel Helena) as an interim pastor before Jamie Smith moved up to shepherd the flock in 1997. Pastor Jamie came out of Calvary Chapel Temecula where he also served as an administrator at the Calvary Chapel Conference Center in Murrieta, California.

During this season, the church continued to grow, moved location, and Ted Ethridge and his wife Cheryl moved up to lead the youth group. In 2002, after Pastor Jamie and his family followed a call to the mission field in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, Ted was raised to serve as senior pastor.

Through the years God has been faithful to bless the teaching of His Word even in the midst of our own unfaithfulness. There have been many hills and valleys in the 20 year history of Calvary Chapel Bozeman, nevertheless the Lord continues to feed and establish the flock here as we grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
